BJP candidate Phangnon Konyak’s nomination papers found valid

Dimapur, March 22 (EMN): The Returning Officer of biennial election to the council of states has informed that the nomination papers of BJP candidate S Phangnon Konyak has been found valid after the scrutiny on Tuesday.

Phangnon Konyak, president of Mahila Morcha (women wing) of Nagaland unit, had filed nomination for the state’s lone Rajya Sabha seat on Monday.

She will now be elected MP of Rajya Sabha unopposed as no other political parties had filed nominations.

The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is March 24 (before 3 pm).

In the event of an election, voting will be held on March 31 from 9 am to 4 pm and counting of votes to be done on the same day at 5 pm.
