Biren attends Gadakari’s call for project review

Imphal, Dec. 30 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh attended a meeting of the National Highways Projects of Northeast states which was presided over by Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadakari at Kaziranga in Assam on Fri., according to official reports.
All the projects were thoroughly reviewed during the meeting. Union minister Gadakari was stated to have assured that there will be ‘no shortage of funds’ for road construction in the region.
Manipur CM Biren has proposed ring road around Imphal, and construction of two-three flyovers / underpasses to ease congestion of traffic in Imphal area. He called also for the extension of the Imphal-Churachandpur-Singhat National Highway up to Behiang in the state besides early handing over of more NH developmental works to the state’s PWD.
The Union minister was stated to have given a ‘positive response’ to the proposals. He was stated to have authorised the chief minister to directly review the NHIDCL projects with the engineers in concern to expedite the projects.
