Beneficiaries in Mokokchung receive rubber sheet roller sets

MOKOKCHUNG — The Department of Land Resources, Mokokchung division, distributed rubber sheet roller set (2023-24) under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) XXVIII at its office premises in Mokokchung town on Thursday.

The deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Poji, who handed over the rubber sheet roller set to the beneficiaries, informed that various departments in Nagaland are rolling out assistance to the beneficiaries. He, however, observed that beneficiaries are not yielding the targeted results due to various reasons.

He informed that the government is incurring all cost of the rubber sheet roller sets with intention to enable farmers sustain for their livelihood. He encouraged the farmers to be resilience against any challenge in their pursuit in rubber farming since they will be working for their personal income not for others.

He added that the government’s policy was to give benefits to the genuine beneficiaries for their livelihood and expand their farming capacity so that in turn they might provide employment to others.

He also informed that the distributions of rubber sheet roller sets are being carried out in various sub-divisions under the district.

Stating that farmers in Mokokchung are well informed and are very serious when it comes to sustenance, he advised the beneficiaries not to take the government initiation for granted because it will be their own loss to dispose off a machine that would sustain them. 

Sentinungla, district project officer of Land Resources Department (LRD), Mokokchung, informed that the selection process was screened thoroughly on the criteria of genuine rubber farmer, number of rubber trees and the number of rubber trees matured for tapping.

She further urged the beneficiaries to install the roller set at their own farms and maintain the rollers saying that it is a piece of property they own to sustain their livelihood.

An official from LRD Mokokchung informed that till now the department has distributed 96 sets of rubber sheet roller sets under RIDF and North East Council (NEC) and the remaining would be distributed in the coming weeks.

It was informed that a rubber sheet roller set cost approximately INR 80000.
