Dimapur — Wokha division of Health department conducted SAARTHI, an awareness on wheels under Mission Parivar Vikas, in Baghty town on Thursday.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Wokha, stated that medical staff along with ASHA have sensitised the public on family planning by making public announcements on the various family planning methods, distributed information, education and communication (IEC) leaflets on choices of family planning, provided counseling to eligible couples, distributed condoms as well as oral contraceptive pills and conducted signature campaign.
It stated that SAARTHI activities were held at Baghty weekly market and Baghty Baptist Church with the support of community leaders.
At Baghty Baptist Church, Dr. Epibeni, medical officer of District Hospital Wokha, gave health talks to eligible couples and stressed on the need to adopt family planning.
It mentioned that SAARTHI was earlier launched in the district by the CMO of Wokha, Dr. Zubenthung Kikon, in its office in the presence of DIO Wokha and medical staff on Thursday. Dr. Zubenthung expressed hope that the SAARTHI vehicle equipped with IEC leaflets and temporary family planning methods would be able to reach out to beneficiaries who are yet to avail free family planning services at government health centres.
