Kohima, July 18
Amardeep Gurung and Arep lifted the title in veteran category at the Badminton Championship organized by Evening Club, Kohima at Badminton Stadium, Kohima. The runners-up were Kevin and M Threnso.
While in sub-veteran category, Raju and Aomulong emerged as the champions, while Joseph Sumi and Transo were the runners-up. The winners in both categories will walk home richer with Rs.20,000, while the runners-up in both categories were awarded Rs.15,000.
Meanwhile, the organizers have thanked all the participants and the sponsors.Mention may be made that all the winners in both categories are from Kohima.
The organizers have informed that the Inter-District Badminton tournament will be held from August 4-7 at Zunheboto, for which selection for Kohima district would be held on July 25.
