Azedon dismantle Vineyard School, Rüzhükhrie HSS win

Kohima, June 29 (EMN): Azedon High School thrashed The Vineyard School by 7-0 at the ongoing 1st Kohima District Inter-School Football tournament, jointly organized by Kohima Royal Club and School Education department at Kohima local ground on Thursday.
Playing as the youngest team in the tournament, The Vineyard School goalie Veyi got injured in 1st minute time and was unable to continue, thus making way for Azedon to hammer the team in a goal fest encounter.

Zupude of Azedon scored the fastest goal in the tournament when he found the net in 14 second and completed his hat-trick in 13 minutes time. He also became the first player to score a treble in the tournament. Zepude found the net in 14 second, 8th and 13th minutes.While Arjun of Azedon scored a brace in the 10th and 31st minutes respectively.
After scoring five goals in the first half, Azedon went to score two more goals in the second half through penalties in the 44th and 59th minutes. Tiawapang and Hangpa converted the spot kicks.
A young emerging defender Vikusa (jersey number 17) of The Vineyard School, who was included in the first eleven, paid off the faith of the coach by displaying his brilliant piece of skill but that couldn’t stop the rival team from the goal rampage.
Amid the massacre, The Vineyard School coach introduced the youngest player of the tournament, 11 years old Sorito (jersey number 18) during the second half of the match. The young footballer and his team may have lost the match but their budding skills and sporting spirit till the final whistle enthralled the audience.
With the day’s win, Azedon will now face G. Rio HSS on July 4 in the second round. Meanwhile, organizers have informed that Azedon HS team had, after registering their win in the first match of the day, voluntarily cleaned up the Local Ground galleries.
In the second match, Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) narrowly defeated Baptist High via a tie-breaker 5-4 after the match ended 1-1 in the stipulated 70 minutes time.
During the match, Baptist High Kohima took the early lead in the first half through Neizozhoto in the 7th minute. However after the lemon break, Rüzhükhrie HSS level the scoreline in the 40th minute, Keneisa-o provided the much needed goal.
Rüzhükhrie HSS team also paid tribute to late Shürho-o Solo, a veteran footballer who passed away recently, by wearing the black wristband during the match.
Rüzhükhrie HSS will face Dainty Buds on July 4.
