DIMAPUR — The Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department of Longleng, organised an Ayushman Bhava health mela on September 23 at the community health centre (CHC) Yachem.

Chief medical officer of Longleng, Dr. Tiasunep, in his keynote address, explained on the significance of Ayushman Bhava campaign and highlighted upcoming departmental activities, a DIPR report stated.

The CMO also sensitised attendees about dengue and conjunctivitis.

Extra assistant commissioner of Yachem, S Chingmei, expressed gratitude to the Government of India, the state government and H&FW department for organising the health mela at CHC Yachem. She also acknowledged the various healthcare services provided and the promotion of health awareness.

Brief speeches were delivered by the village council chairmen of Yachem and Yaongyimchen villages.

In addition to health check-ups, the event included a multi-specialty health mela, reproductive and child health (RCH) activities, focus group discussions (FGD), VDRL testing, screening for non-communicable diseases including cancer, diabetes, hypertension, etc., TB screening, leprosy evaluation, HIV counseling and testing, hepatitis testing, eye screening, OST induction and the issuance of Ayushman cards.

A total of 230 villagers were treated fro various ailments during the health mela.

Earlier, Dr. James, MO Yachem, delivered the welcome address.

Meanwhile, Ayushman Bhava weekly health mela was also organised at Sotokur SC-HWC on September 24, with special focus on communicable diseases.

The event was led by the community health officer (CHO) of Sotokur, who spearheaded the screening of 22 beneficiaries for malaria using RDT (rapid diagnostic test) and conducted screenings for presumptive TB. During these screenings, 17 sputum samples were collected for further analysis.

In addition, 17 children received vaccinations as part of routine immunisation. The CHO also conducted check-ups of two ANC (antenatal care) cases.
