Dimapur, July 7: The Angami youth Organization (AYO) has strongly warned against defacing community properties and public areas in Kohima town and has promised this–public flogging of offenders. The AYO issued a note on Thursday noting that unidentified vandals had been defacing renovation and beautification works in the town. “On the ongoing renovation / beautification works (being) carried out at the four walk over bridge in Kohima town, AYO is constrained to make a cautioned note to the town dwellers not to deface / damage the beautification works. It is brought to knowledge of the organization that some miscreant have (sic) been carrying out unruly activities at the renovation sites,” the AYO stated. The organization has directed colony youths to be vigilant and ‘catch the culprits.’ Anyone caught defacing or destroying ‘the beautification projects’ in and around Kohima town will be flogged in public, the AYO warned. The APO has appreciated community groups for undertaking various sanitation and environmental activities in the capital. The organization has appealed to citizens and communities particularly the Angami to ‘come forward in initiating more of such works in the interest of all.’
