ATMA Mokokchung holds training on organic production of vegetables
Dr. Imchalemla along with ATMA staff and participants of the STRY programme held at Yaongyimti Old village under Chuchuyimlang block, Mokokchung.

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mokokchung conducted a six-day Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) programme at Yaongyimti Old village under Chuchuyimlang block, Mokokchung, from February 13 to the 18th on organic production of vegetables.’

It was held in association with State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, and MANAGE, Hyderabad.

The resource persons for the training were Dr. Imchalemla, SDHO Tuli, department of Horticulture, Mokokchung; Sentinaro Longchar, Dy. PD, ATMA Mokokchung; Nuksungienla Jamir, ATM, Ongpangkong north block, along with the BTM and ATMs of Chuchuyimlang block.

The training programme started with an inaugural programme chaired by Aolemla Kichu, BTM, Chuchuyimlang block, an update stated

Deputy Project Director, ATMA, Mokokchung, Sentinaro Longchar, highlighted the aims and objectives of the training and encouraged all the participants to actively partake in the training course.

The resource persons spoke on various topics including Organic farming: importance, scope and opportunities; production technology of brocolli; cultivation practices of cauliflower, beetroot, carrot and lettuce; organic farming in Nagaland; Organic vegetable cultivation; An overview of nutrient management in organic farming; cultivation practices of chilli, and biofertilisers: introduction and importance.

The training concluded with a valedictory programme where certificates were distributed to the participants. Altogether, 17 unemployed youths from Yaongyimti Old village attended the skill training programme. Inputs such as vegetable seeds, neem oil, shade net, seed tray, jaggery, trichoderma, waste decomposer and watering cane were distributed to the participants. Dimapur, Feb. 20 (EMN)
