Dimapur, Dec. 30 (EMN): Chieswema battalion of the Assam Rifles has distributed 12 hearing aids to the local population in Chiephobozou, Pfutsero, Zeizou and Chakabama villages on December 28.
The aim of the event, according to the Assam Rifles’ press release, was to provide assistance to the differently abled people of those areas who do not have access to medical treatment and cannot afford hearing aids.
In a separate programme, Kiphire battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised lecture on “Today’s youth tomorrow’s future” at its company operating base Anatongre village under Kiphire district on December 27.
The aim of the event was to educate the youth about their role in future development of the nation and the role of young generation toward a better world. A total 43 youth attended the lecture.
In yet another programme, Shamatore battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted free medical camp in Wenshoi village under Tuensang district on December 27.
The medical camp was organised to provide free medical treatment to local residents of remote areas, who were deprived of requisite medical facilities. It stated that medicines were provided to the ailing patients without any cost.
Apart from the medical assistance, basic awareness on HIV/AIDS including ill effects of drugs was also imparted. A specially constituted medical team under regimental medical officer treated 147 patients including 37 males, 63 females and 47 children.
