Assam Rifles gifts sports items to Peren youth, school

DIMAPUR — In its consistent effort for the well-being and sustainability of the local populace, the Assam Rifles on Monday distributed sports items to the Youth Organisation of Peren town and Christian English School (CES), Tesen village.

The event was aimed at promoting sports and sportsmanship as a tool for uplifting the youth. The main motive was to engage youth in sports as a preventive measure from indulging in drugs and toxic substances, an official bulletin stated.

Various sports items and equipment including football, volleyball, basketball, badminton racket, badminton shuttle, cricket bat and stump, tennis balls and other sports materials were distributed.

“The Assam Rifles are not only maintaining peace and security in the area but also stretching out hands in every possible way for the people, especially for youth in shaping careers in every field.

“The youth were motivated to identify their skills and talents in sports and made known to others. The importance of sports in transforming career, healthiness and fitness for shaping future were also shared,” it stated.

The organising committee, president of the Peren Town Youth Organisation, CES staff and youth members, expressed their sincere gratitude to the Assam Rifles for its concern for the youth.
