Assam Rifles conducts career guidance session, wreath-laying ceremony
DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles conducted a career guidance session on opportunities in the armed forces and an interaction at Highland Hall Higher Secondary School, Naga United Village, Dimapur, on June 25.
A press release stated that a total of 120 students, along with 10 faculty members, participated in the event. The students were enlightened about various career opportunities in the armed forces.
On the same day, Assam Rifles organised a weapon display for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets at Patkai Christian College, Chümoukedima, in which a total of 524 girl NCC cadets, along with 32 staff personnel, participated.
It mentioned that the cadets were familiarised with various equipment held by the Assam Rifles. They had the opportunity to handle the equipment, and the display helped them develop an understanding of the weapons and equipment.
It also conducted a wreath-laying ceremony at the Unit War Memorial in Ghaspani to pay homage to Rifleman (General Duty) Dayasagar Arya, who made the supreme sacrifice on June 25, 1990, in Srinagar, when the unit was deployed in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir.
The event was attended by three officers, 21 junior commissioned officers (JCOs), and 180 other ranks of the battalion.
During the event, the attendees were briefed on how the fallen hero displayed conspicuous gallantry, indomitable resolve, grit, determination, and selflessness beyond the call of duty, ultimately making the supreme sacrifice.
