Dimapur, Aug 16 (EMN): In the wee hours of Saturday, cadres of the recently breakaway group of NSCN (K) lead by Nyemlang Konyak attacked the camp of 45 Assam Rifles E Coy, stationed at the International Trade Centre (ITC) in Noklak.
According to Noklak police sources, the attack took place at around 2.15 am on Saturday, which led to an exchange of firing that lasted for around 45 minutes.
Police said that there was no casualty from the Assam Rifles side.
However, a statement issued by the Naga group’s MIP in-charge, Nikato Pilot Sumi, claimed that its dawn attack had caused “casualties on the foreign occupiers, with no casualties on our side”.
“NSCN/GPRN once again reiterates that we stand to defend the sovereign political rights of all Naga inhabited areas,” he stated.
