Assam-Nagaland police personnel disengaged from Aosenden

Mokokchung, Aug. 1 (EMN):
Withdrawal of Assam and Nagaland security forces from Aosenden area completed at 4 pm on Sunday, according to Border Magistrate Tzurangkong Atsungba Walling.

Walling further informed that withdrawal of security personnel from both the sides was initiated by the joint committee comprising SDC (C) Titabar, additional SP Jorhat, border magistrate Maraini, SDPO Titabar, border magistrate Tzurangkong, additional SP Mokokchung and SDPO Mangkolemba.

The withdrawal process started at the Aosenden area early Sunday morning.

‘The Joint Committee has decided that withdrawal of security forces for both the parties from Vikuto village area would commence from 9:00 hours tomorrow (Monday),’ Walling added.

As per Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner Limawabang Jamir, a joint committee was constituted to oversee the disengagement of all security forces deployed at the border belt of Aosenden and Vihoto area of Vikuto village under Mokokchung district.

‘Before the withdrawal, both parties will take photographs before and after dismantling of bunkers/tent/infrastructure,’ Jamir said.

It may be mentioned that Nagaland shares more than 500 kilometre-long border with Assam while border tension/clashes have occurred since the attainment of Nagaland state.
