Legendary singer Asha Bhosle’s younger son and music composer Hemant breathed his last on September 28. He had been battling with cancer for long and was in Scotland in his last days.
This is Asha Bhosle’s second loss in three years as her daughter Varsha had committed suicide in 2012. Varsha was suffering from depression and was under psychiatric treatment for the same.
According to a report published in BollywoodHungama.com, Asha Bhosle was not immediately informed about the death as she had to perform for a concert in Singapore.
After the concert, she was scheduled to fly to India for the birthday celebrations of her elder sister and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.
Asha Bhosle didn’t comment on the news. However, according to a report published in DNA, a close friend of the family said, “Both Lata didi and Asha tai met quietly, held hands, consoling each other.
On Sunday, even as she packed her bags to leave from Singapore for Mumbai, came this news,” she added choking on her words.” It’s also said that Asha Bhosle and Hemant’s relations had strained in the past years following her fallout with her daughter-in-law and Hemant’s wife.
Hemant Bhosle had composed music for movies like ‘Damaad’ and Marathi Bhavgeet ‘Sharad Sundar’ and Yeu Kashi Priya’, all of which his mother had sang.
He had also composed music for Anil Sharma’s ‘Shraddhanjali’, Eshmayeel Shroff’s ‘Agar’ and ‘Taxi Taxi’ in which Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle had come together to sing ‘Laayee Kahaan Ae Zindagi’.
