DIMAPUR — The department of Art and Culture is all set for the Hornbill Festival 2024 on the theme “Cultural Connect.” The department would take up activities from December 1 to the 10th.
It informed that daily cultural performances (cultural extravaganza) would be held at the main arena. It added that 18 cultural troupes from within the state would arrive soon to showcase lively folk dances and songs, indigenous games, demonstration of rituals and folk dramas etc. in their colourful traditional attires.
The Artists’ Corner/ Art Fair would be held at the World War-II museum premises at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. Activities would include art show, transaction of art, artist talk/ presentation, art pavilion exhibition, art market and artisan boots, art demonstrations, interactive workshops, art installation, art battles and cultural art show.
It informed that the archives branch would organise a joint exhibition with the National Archives of India, New Delhi, titled “Naga-land and people in archival mirror.” It informed that departmental publications based on research documentation, monographs of historians, dictionaries of some local communities, Naga customary practices and usages, archaeological publications etc. would be available for book lovers in the exhibition hall at World War-II complex.
A must visit place to see, understand and experience the historic event is the World War– II Museum in Kisama, where outstanding relics and artifacts are on display. The museum would be opened to the public from 10 am to 4 pm.
It also informed that the State Museum in Kohima would be opened to all the public on all working days from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
It further informed that the Department of Art and Culture would organise the Artisans Corner at the World War– II Museum Complex to facilitate all the 18 tribes of Nagaland to demonstrate skills in various indigenous arts and crafts-making.
