AR nabs NSCN (KN) cadre, seize IMFL

Dimapur, April 11 (EMN): Basing on specific intelligent inputs regarding movement of suspected UGs cadres, troops 7 Assam Rifles conducted an operation at Pungro Junction of Kiphire district on April 6 and arrested one cadre of NSCN (KN).
The arrested person has been identified as Rolise (21), son of Vangsemong of Kiphire village. The troop recovered one pistol with magazine and 4 live rounds. The apprehended cadre along with recovered weapon and ammunition were handed over to Kiphire Police Station for further investigation.
In a separate incident, troops of 28 Assam Rifles seized a total of 1078 bottles of McDowell Rum and 335 bottles of Officer’s Choice whisky worth Rs 3 lakhs being smuggled into Nagaland on April 8.
The contraband items were recovered from a Bolero belonging to one Mrs Nriea Humtsoe (24) and resident of Humtsoe village and Yanrenthung Ngullie (35) resident of Ryphim village of Wokha district.
Both the alleged owners of illegal liquor were handed over to Bhandari Police Station on April 8 and an FIR against the individuals was lodged in Bhandari Police Station.
In yet another incident, troops of 36 Assam Rifles recovered a total of 1944 bottles of IMFL from a general area in Mhainamtsi village under Peren district on April 10.
Assam Rifles intercepted two vehicles and apprehended five individuals alongwith 1944 bottles of illegal IMFL worth approximately Rs 2 lakhs. The alleged owners were identified as Amanto (19) resident of Diphupar; Yangum (18) resident of Jalukie; Mrs Mukaye (20) resident of Jalukie; Mrs Chihile (40) resident of Tening; and Mrs Hiliyale (30) resident of Tening.
The apprehendees revealed that they were involved in transportation of illegal liquor from Dimapur to Jalukie and Tening.
The individuals alongwith the recovered items were handed over to Jalukie Police Station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, troops of 28 Assam Rifles extended educational support to a needy yet meritorious student Ms E Beni of Assam Rifles Middle School by providing free study books.
The help was extended on request of chairman of Wokha for the young girl from humble family who had passed Class III with flying colours.
