AR conducts awareness lecture on rain water harvesting

DIMAPUR — With the objective to recognise the significance of rainwater harvesting and to augment the Jal Shakti Mission, Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on rain harvesting techniques to educate and empower the local population at Ndunglwa village in Peren district, on July 6.
“The event attracted enthusiastic participation from both young and old members of the local population. The lecture covered the concept of rainwater harvesting, highlighting its importance in addressing water scarcity, promoting sustainable agriculture and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change,” a defence release stated.
The AR personnel also showcased various techniques and methods that could be implemented in homes and community spaces to collect, store, and utilise rainwater effectively. The participants were educated about the different components of a rainwater harvesting system, such as catchment areas, gutters, filters, storage tanks, and recharge pits. They were shown practical demonstrations and illustrations, enabling them to grasp the concepts more efficiently, the release stated.
