DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles held the 51st Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA) Day celebration at Kenguruse Auditorium, Kohima, on August 24, with ex-servicemen, veer naris, and their families in attendance.

The event was attended by Major General Manish Kumar, SM, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), who expressed his gratitude to all the ex-servicemen and veer naris for their contribution to the Assam Rifles and the nation as a whole.

ARESA, Kohima, was established on August 24, 1973, and has since celebrated the day as foundation day. On this occasion, the gallantry awardees and veer naris were also felicitated by the inspector general.

Meanwhile, on August 24, responding to a request from the village heads of Dan, Noklak district, Assam Rifles provided emergency medical assistance to locals in the border village who were affected by a sudden outbreak of flu-like symptoms.

It was noted that Assam Rifles, along with the regimental medical officer and a medical team, quickly arrived in the village to provide critical aid. Given the large number of patients, a medical aid camp was organised, and a makeshift field hospital was set up at the Dan Community Centre.

Subsequently, 17 patients were placed under observation for close monitoring, and a total of 247 patients received medical aid. The camp is still ongoing, with the civil administration medical team also joining the efforts to provide necessary support.
