AR arrests one with arms in Dimapur

Dimapur, Jan. 12 (EMN): Basing on specific information, Dimapur Battalion of Assam Rifles has arrested one person along with arms from Burma Camp area in Dimapur on January 11.

The accused was identified as Neiwelhi Rume (35), son of Thezu Rume and resident of Zeleme village under Pfutsero division in Phek district. The troops recovered one point 22mm pistol and one magazine from his possession. The apprehendee alongwith the recovered items were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur, for further investigation.

In a related incident, Wokha Battalion of the Assam Rifles apprehended one former civil wing worker of NSCN (K) during search operation in Wokha town on January 11.

The arrested individual was identified as Mhonthung Tungie (42), son of Yensamo and resident of Wokha village (E-Khel). The troops recovered one point 22 pistol, one magazine, six live rounds and Indian currency amounting INR 2,360 from his possession.

Assam Rifles press release stated that the accused along with the recovered items were handed over to Wokha Police Station.
