Apon, Rasu win Tseminyu chess Championship titles
Dimapur, Oct. 16 (EMN): The first chess coaching camp-cum-1st Tseminyu District Chess Championship 2022, organised by Youth Resources and Sports department in collaboration with Nagaland Chess Association (NCA), concluded on October 15.
An update from NCA informed that Mohokiya Apon emerged champion in the open category, while Haichu Kath and Benkiya Apon were declared first and second runner-ups respectively.
In the Under-18 category, Sozin Rasu was declared champion and Akenye Kent first runner-up.
A total of 134 players participated in district-level chess championship, the highest numbers of players in district-level chess championships so far, NCA stated.
Besides, 185 participants took part in the three-day coaching camp held at Baptist Higher Secondary School, Tseminyu.
NCA also set up its unit Tseminyu District Chess Association headed by Mohokiya Apon as president and Benkiya Apon as secretary, it stated.
