APO set to celebrate golden jubilee on April 8

Kohima, April 5 (EMN): The Angami Public Organisation (APO) is all set to celebrate its golden jubilee on April 8 at Khouchiezhie (Kohima local ground) from 10:30 am onwards.
This was informed by the APO president, Razouvotuo Chatsu, while addressing a press conference at APO building in Kohima. He stated that APO was formed in 1972 with Zapuvisie Lhousa as founder president. Chatsu informed that Zapuvisie Lhousa, who is still alive, would speak on the occasion.
Chatsu also informed that all the members from four ranges under the Angami region comprising 15,000 people would come together for the celebration. He added that Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, would grace the occasion as the chief guest along with the Angami legislators including former chief minister, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu. as the honoured guests.
The celebration would be held on the theme “Angamimia Therhu” meaning ‘Sense of honour among the Angamis.’
Chatsu informed that all the former presidents of APO including the presidents of the four ranges of the Angami namely Southern, Northern, Western and Chakhroma public organizations would be felicitated on the occasion.
Adding to the celebration, there would be a display of unity dance, cultural and other entertainment activities to commemorate the celebration which would be followed with a feast prepared by the Angami Women Organisations (AWO), he stated.
Meanwhile, convenor of the organising committee, K Neibu Sekhose, informed that the year-long calendar was chalked out and launched on October 13, 2021. He added that the main aim of the jubilee celebration was to forgive and do good among the villages and spread to other tribes in order to foster peace and unity.
To commemorate the celebration, Sekhose also informed that the organisation has decided to build a building named ‘Nousi Ki’ (unity/ understanding building) for all communities in Kohima.
Informing that APO has planned to undertake a mass tree plantation, he has appealed to all the bonafide Angami citizens to plant a tree to commemorate the jubilee celebration.
The convenor informed that all the 104 Angami village chairmen would hoist their respective villages at the main venue on April 8. He added the four regional presidents will hoist their flags, while the APO president will hoist the APO flag on the occasion. Besides, the Chief Minister would hoist the jubilee flag.
While anticipating heavy traffic congestion, he urged Angami people to park their cars responsibly so that it does not create traffic congestion and cause inconveniences for others.
Sekhose further asked all the Angami government employees to take a one day casual leave in the name of the jubilee in order to attend the celebration.
