Ao Student’s Conference to rejuvenate Mokokchung Law College
Mokokchung, Dec. 29: Commemorating its 87th foundation day, Ao Student’s Conference (AKM) launched Corpus Fund for Mokokchung Law College and deposited an amount of Rs 10 lakh in it.
The Corpus Fund was formally launched at AKM’s conference hall here today with Advisor of Urban Development, SI Jamir, who is also the former president AKM, as the chief guest.
The corpus fund for the Mokokchung Law College was generated through the ‘WE CARE IV’ musical concert which was held on December 15, 2016.
The chief guest, SI Jamir, while speaking at the programme, lamented on the prevailing disunity in the Naga society and urged the youth to work towards bringing unity among the different Naga tribes in the State.
He observed that the scope and vision of the present youth seemed to be quite narrow instead of widening their scope at par with the change of time. Also pointing out division among the people on the lines of tribe, community, ranges etc., he urged the youth to be forward looking, widen their scope, think beyond their own tribes and work towards a united and progressive Naga society.
AKM president, L Jemti Longchar delivered the welcome address, while former assistant general secretary of AKM, Er. Chubatoshi recollected the AKM’s past years and its achievements. A special number was presented by Arsashi Ozukum, while MTBA Associate Pastor, Yanglu Pongen invoked God’s blessing.
It may be noted here that Mokokchung Law College, established in 1981, is a sole property of the Aos which was conceptualised through a resolution during the AKM golden jubilee celebration in Longkhum village in 1979. But over the years, the college faced a lot of problems due to fund constraints and the development of the college remained stagnant. The setting up of the Corpus Fund by the AKM is expected to augment conditions of the college with regard to payment of salaries, upgradation of teaching aids and library etc.
