Mokokchung, Sep. 28 (EMN):
The Ao Senden has claimed that ‘non-handing over of land for Mokokchung power house sub-station besides non-reimbursement of state component of GST amounting to INR 28.08 crore against invoices raised till March 21, 2021, pending from department of Power’ led to the de-sanctioned of North Eastern Power System Improvement Project (Nersip) scheme executed by the Powergrid in Mokokchung district.

Ao Senden stated this in a letter written to the state chief secretary on September 27.

While drawing attention of the state government, Ao Senden stated that the power system improvement project sanctioned by the Powergrid is much needed for the people of Mokokchung and the surrounding areas and appealed to complete the project within the stipulated period.

Referring to the letter written by the All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) to the chief secretary on September 25, 2021, as well as to K Asungba Sangtam on April 29, 2021, Ao Senden pointed that there was no land issue for construction of power house sub-station in Mokokchung as it has already been discussed and resolved between the landowner and AWUMT.

Ao Senden further added that the same issue was also discussed on June 23, 2021, during the DPDB meeting in the presence of Powergrid officials.

Despite completion of all necessary formalities for acquisition of the said land, Ao Senden wondered at the indifferent attitude of the state government for neglecting Mokokchung district towards the development of the project.

While appealing to the state government to initiate continuation of the said project without delay, Ao Senden warned that the state government would be held solely responsible in the event of any reaction from the public.
