Kohima, Oct. 5 (EMN): All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA), Headquarters Kohima, on Tuesday  announced that they will be taking part in the upcoming NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy.

The announcement was made during the launch programme of ANTA official jersey at Crescent International Hotel in Kohima.

Reigning Miss Nagaland and state election icon, Vikuonuo Sachü and 1st runner-up Miss Phek 2021, Lovi Jidoji along with the two sponsors of the team jersey — Kelhoukhrielie Chielie and Aphrelie Suokhrie, officially launched the ANTA jersey and handed it over to the squad.

Besides the jerseys, sports water bottles were also distributed to the players during the programme.

Earlier, speaking during the launch programme, Vikuonuo Sachü, spoke about the “pitiful condition” of the sports scenario in Nagaland.

“It’s evident that anything related to sports is not seen with the encouragement and appreciation it deserves. The hurdles are apparent but there aren’t many people ready to tackle it,” she said.

She urged the players not to be swayed away but stand strong on their feet and maintained that opportunities and platforms are a must to promote games and sports in the state.

Further, Sachü lauded ANTA for taking the initiative to take part in the upcoming tournament thereby, encouraging “more sports in the future that will bring more people together”.

Meyieho Hibo, general secretary of ANTA, emphasising on the importance of sports, reminded the drivers who are playing in the trophy for the team, that besides driving, they should also learn to play and compete with others.

As ANTA, Headquarters Kohima is entering the tournament for the first time, he reminded the players that discipline and sportsmanship is more important than winning or losing the game.

Coach of the team, Menuosetuo Yiese, manager Ruokuopielie Rutsa and president of ANTA, Dziesevituo Solo, also reminded the players to maintain team spirit and not indulge in any unsportsman-like behaviour during the game.

They also reminded them to maintain their fitness while attending their practice session regularly to prepare for the tournament.
