Angami Youth Organisation upholds non-cooperation with NSCN (K) Khango
DIMAPUR — The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has announced the continuation of its non-cooperation with the NSCN (K) Khango faction, citing the latter’s failure to honour a key point in a previous agreement.
The dispute stems from an incident on July 20, where an individual identifying himself as “Max” and claiming to be a member of the NSCN-K (Khango) finance controller committee, demanded tax from the proprietor of KKB Rülho, a construction firm. The individual reportedly threatened the proprietor with “capital punishment” if the demand was not met within 15 days. This incident led the AYO to initiate non-cooperation with the NSCN (K) Khango and recall Angami workers from the faction.
According to a press release from the AYO on Monday, a meeting facilitated by the Ceasefire Monitoring Group/Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFMG/CFSB) took place on August 20 between the AYO and representatives of the NSCN (K) Khango, including Kilo Kilonser, Visheto Yeptho and CFSB Supervisor, A Imyapangba Ao, in an attempt to resolve the matter.

It said that the AYO participated in the meeting based on a letter of assurance from the office of Hukato Vusshe, General Secretary of the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango, which stated that the NSCN representatives attending the meeting had the full authority to negotiate a resolution on behalf of the group, and their positions should be interpreted as the collective stance of the NSCN, not as personal opinions.
“Therefore, on the 20th August, after a marathon meeting, the AYO and the representatives of the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango resolved to append a four-point agreement. However, the NSCN (K) Khango, till date, have failed to address Point No. 3 of the agreement which stated, ‘The NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango shall make it known to the public the identity of the person alias ‘Max Naga’ and shall initiate appropriate disciplinary action against him on or before 15 days. Accordingly, the AYO shall withdraw its non-cooperation and recalling back of Angami workers from the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango”, the press release stated.
“The AYO regrets to inform the public that the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango has failed on its part to honour the gentlemen’s agreement between the two parties,” it further stated.
Following a meeting with senior leaders and representatives from its four ranges (SAYO, NAYO, WAYO and CYO), the AYO has resolved to uphold the August 20 agreement and continue its non-cooperation with the NSCN (K) Khango until Point No. 3 is fully addressed, it added.
