All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association holds 39th annual general body meeting
Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): The 39th annual general body meeting (AGBM) of the All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) was held on the theme ‘Transformation through Education’ on October 21 at NBCC Platinum Hall, Kohima.
The association in an update informed that meeting was attended by secretary, department of School Education, Limawabang Jamir, and deputy director, School Education, B Nellayappan, as the special guest and resource person, respectively.
The first session (business session) was moderated by Bithungo Kikon, ex-officio advisor, ANPSA Central, while president of ANPSA Mokokchung unit, Anungla Aier, pronounced invocation prayer.
The secretary’s report was read out by general secretary, ANPSA Central, PJ Nathan, who also informed the house of the passing away of some proprietors and teachers of private schools in the last one year.
Treasurer, ANPSA Central, Leneno Y Disong also gave her report.
Senior advisor of ANPSA Central, Pheluopfelie, spoke on the social issues and role of schools. President ANPSA Central, Nini Sekhose, spoke on ‘ANPSA now and beyond.’
Sekhose narrated on how a few like-minded people including Pheluopfelie and Rev. Fr. Charles started the association and that the baton has been passed on to many abled leaders.
She also stated that in the last 39 years, ANPSA has achieved many mile stones and that there are many more things to achieve, one of them being bringing all the districts/units under ANPSA Central as there are many districts which are yet to start the association, it stated.
The report of the search committee for the new team of office bearers for the Central was read out by Pheluopfelie. He stated that the committee took into consideration the inaction of the present office bearers in the last two years and in line with the Constitution of ANPSA, unanimously decided to extend the term of the present officials for another term with the inclusion of principal of Rincho Academy, Dimapur, Benisha, as the new information secretary in place Ashuli Joseph, who resigned during the tenure.
The morning session concluded with the moderator stressing on the importance of being a light to light another member. The second session was moderated by Nini Sekhose while advisor, Kohima unit, Zhopota Rhakho, invoked God’s blessings upon the proceedings and the members.
A special number was presented by Dainty Buds School, Kohima. The key note address was delivered by the special guest Limawabang Jamir, secretary, department of School Education.
Jamir dwelled on some of key components of the NEP 2020 and the provisions in the context of Nagaland. This was followed by the discussion on Issues facing private schools wherein the members posed questions while the special guest and the resource person, B Nellayappan, deputy director, School Education, answered the queries, it stated.
Important issues like selling of Teacher’s Day flags by the School Education Department to students, sending last minute information to schools to collect data and other information were taken up. The session concluded with benediction pronounced by Rev. Fr. Jacob Charalel, vice president of ANPSA Central.
Earlier, the executive meeting was held on October 20, which was moderated by Abalie Medoze, joint secretary, ANPSA Central.
