Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): The 61st All-India Railway Basketball Championship (men) was inaugurated today at the Northeast Frontier Railway Indoor Stadium, in Maligaon by General Manager, N. F. Railway Construction Organisation N. K. Prasad who was the chief guest at the event. The event is hosted by N. F. Railway Sports Association, which is also running 11 academies to promote different sports stated an update received through the chief public relations officer, NF Railway in Maligaon.
The championship will continue till Nov. 21.
More than 270 players belonging to 22 teams of different Zones of Indian Railway and Railway Production Units of the country and 26 officials including referees and selectors are taking part in the tournament.
In the inaugural match of the championship, the host team Northeast Frontier Railway beat Metro Railway 65-39.
