MOKOKCHUNG — Alemyanger, a 50-year-old man from Longsa village, has declared his candidature to contest the upcoming Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) election from Mongsenbai Ward.

In a run up to the civic poll, he has resigned from both active and primary membership of NDPP and joined the Congress.

Briefing media persons on May 27, he stated that there was no blame game involved in his resignation from the ruling party. He, however, stated that his vision aligned with the Congress to redesign a system from the grassroots with a change.

Disclosing his intention to bring a change in Nagaland state electioneering process which involves malpractices, creating enmity within neighbours, clans, community etc, Alemyanger has sought blessings from the ward authority. He assured to make Mongsenbai ward into a model by engaging every stakeholder in the development process, if the people gave him their mandate.

“I will be contesting not for a change but with a change” he asserted.

The intending candidate said he would work hand-and-hand with the ward authority and stakeholders in every welfare and developmental activity. Besides, he expressed desire to train the youth in every possible aspect of public engagement, be it political, social and civic activism, to empower them and make them potential future leaders.

Alemyanger also shared his vision to transform Mokokchung into a smart town, which required all stakeholders onboard with a renewed vigour to push forward.

From the MMC perspective, he stated that focus would be given in human resource development. He, however, stated that Mokokchung needs a robust market and sustainable economy, which would be his top most priority. He also shared his agendas in exploring ways and means to tackle the sanitation problem in Mokokchung.
