Mokokchung, March 4 (EMN):
Expressing solidarity with the victims of Oting incident, Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has sought justice and to repeal the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

AKM has made this appeal during its visit to Mon district and interaction with the stakeholders on March 2. AKM entourage, led by its president, met the Oting village council and paid homage to the deceased of December 4, 2021, incident.

During interaction with the Oting village council members, AKM announced a resolute statement that the innocent blood soaked in the land was still fresh and affirmed that the AKM would raise its voice until justice was delivered.

Stating that AKM would always continue to stand with the Konyak brothers and Naga as a whole in every issue, they asserted that “We are being treated like domesticated animals, slaughtering under the pretense of AFSPA. AKM is always vocal against the enforcement of AFSPA and will stand against the removal of AFSPA from our land until the end.”

“We urged all Naga people to come forward for a common front to pressure the government of India to remove AFSPA from our land,” AKM said.

Meanwhilem, the Oting village council has expressed gratitude to all the organisations, churches, civil societies and NGO for visiting Oting in the hour of their sorrow in solidarity with them.

“Through this incident, we have realised the Naga and various communities care for us. The act of sharing our sorrow by various communities both here and abroad was overwhelming,” AKM has stated quoting the Oting village council.

“Black flags we raise against the killing of innocent people will be pulled down only when justice is delivered,” they reaffirmed their stand.

Later, in a meeting with Konyak Students’ union (KSU), AKM expressed that the Oting incident reflected the true inhuman treatment rendered by the security forces to the Naga people.

AKM also stated that if India claimed to be the largest democracy in the world, then they should remove the draconian Act (AFSPA) from the entire Northeast region, which is not relevant in this modern world.

AKM and KSU further appealed to the Naga family to unite as one to fight against atrocities inflicted by the Indian security forces and repeal AFSPA, which is against the United Nations- Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
