DIMAPUR — The offices of the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) and Angami Youth Organisation Diphupar (AYOD) have condemned the abduction of two individuals from Diphupar by members of NSCN-K (Niki) and the subsequent extortion demands.

In a condemnation note, AKM stated that this is a grave violation of human rights and unbecoming of national workers.

Stating that AKM stands in total solidarity with the victims and supports the much-needed call from the Dimapur-based Naga youth organisations, it said that the organisation strongly condemn any form of violence directed towards anyone and urged the concerned authorities to take stern action against those responsible before the situation worsens

“AKM is ready to peruse the matter until justice is served and the culprits are punished,” it said.

It further called upon the group to respect the democratic rights of the people and to refrain from any activities that could escalate tensions in the state.

“These acts of intimidation and use of criminal tactics such as abduction and extortion threaten the safety and livelihoods of innocent civilians and the business community,” it stated, adding that it will not recognise any national groups terrorising its communities. It also emphasised that it will not tolerate such actions and questions their legitimacy and principles.

In a similar note, the AYOD condemned the abduction of two and the seizure of their vehicle at Padampukhurii village by members of the group.

“This cowardly and inhumane act is not only a crime against the victims but an affront to the collective dignity of all peace-loving people in our state,” it stated, adding that such barbaric acts, especially by a Naga political group that proclaims to be at ceasefire with the Indian government, pose a direct threat to the peace, stability, and entrepreneurial development.

“The abduction of innocent civilians to enforce extortion is not only illegal but morally reprehensible. It reflects the criminal nature of the perpetrators, and such actions must not be tolerated under any circumstances,” it continued.

The AYOD called upon the chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group and the state law enforcement agencies to take immediate and decisive action against the members of NSCN-K (Niki) involved in this incident.
