DIMAPUR — The month-long ‘Gift a radio campaign’ launched in the whole of North East India under the initiative of the Office of the Zonal Head, Akashvani, North East Zone, Guwahati came to an end on Thursday.
To mark the successful end of the campaign, Akashvani (All India Radio) Kohima also organised a closing function held at Akashvani Kohima office.
The event marked the culmination of a commemorative campaign celebrating the first-ever radio station opening in North East India in July 1948, a significant accomplishment that has improved the cultural and informational landscape of the area, stated an update from AIR Kohima.
The ‘Gift a radio campaign’ brought attention to the important role that radio plays in building community involvement, bridging gaps, and conserving the regional heritage. During the month-long campaign, celebrities and prominent persons from different walks of life of Nagaland appealed listeners to consider gifting a radio set to their near and dear ones and to the needy, it stated.
The closing function was marked by presentation of radio sets to selected Akashvani Kohima listeners as a symbol of appreciation and also to further extend the reach of Akashvani Kohima’s broadcast.
“Radio sets as gifts indicate a renewed dedication to bringing many voices and stories into households across the region,” it stated.
Meanwhile, Akashvani Kohima extended gratitude to all the participants, supporters, and the community for their enthusiastic engagement and assured that it “remains devoted to its mission of serving as a vibrant platform for information, education, and entertainment, continuing to connect and inspire through the power of radio.”
