Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA)-Don Bosco under SBI Gram Seva programme observed Gandhi jayanti with the five adopted villages namely Khriezephe, Diezephe, Tsithrongse, Urra and Bade on October 1 by organising mass cleanliness drive.
Gandhi jayanti is celebrated on October 2 every year to mark the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, known as father of the nation. An update from AIDA mentioned that his method of non-violence inspired many civil rights movements across the world. It added that to celebrate his contribution to the nation, the day is also celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence by the United Nations.
It stated that AIDA-SBI Gram Seva with the five adopted villages observed the day by conducting mass social work/ cleanliness drive by involving all the stakeholders and the communities. The purpose of the drive was also to promote a clean village surrounding and community participation in keeping plastic-free and pollution-free environment.
