Imphal, Feb. 27 (EMN): Manipur chief secretary RR Rashmi inaugurated has the state agriculture fair 2018 on February 27 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace compound, Imphal East.
The function was organised by Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur, and sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.
A total of 42 stalls of various departments and Self Help Groups (SHGs) were set up to showcase the agricultural products and agricultural implements.
Speaking at the function as chief guest, RR Rashmi said that the opening of state agriculture fair 2018 would boost up and strengthen the agricultural products, use of technology know- how and skill development like soil health test for the farmers. He stated that all departments have been trying to increase agricultural products.
He also inspected the stalls along with the officials of agriculture department and interacted with them.
Department of horticulture and soil conservation, department of veterinary & animal husbandry, department of fisheries, department of sericulture, ICAR for NEH Region Manipur Centre, and Central Agriculture University, Imphal, have set up eight stalls.
Besides, entrepreneurs from Chandel, Senapati, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Tamenglong, and Ukhrul are participating in the fair.
