Advisor Zhimomi bats for making Zunheboto one of the best hill stations

DIMAPUR — G Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor, Land Resources, said on Sunday that Zunheboto district headquarters currently spans only seven kilometres and that people should envision expanding it further to 25 kilometres in the coming 25 years.

In his address to the gathering as the guest of honour during the blessing service on the second day of the Zunheboto district jubilee celebration, he recalled how the district was created, how Sumi elders came together during its formation, and added that they put aside their differences and were united, and that people today must also do the same.

The service was held at Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto, which was also attended by MLA Dr. Sukhato A Sema as the special guest.

Zhimomi also urged citizens to envision the existing town council becoming a municipal council and then a hill station, adding that they should strive to make Zunheboto a tourist destination and one of the best hill stations.

To accomplish these, the advisor mentioned that people must set aside their ego, clannism, and all isms and unite.

During the programme, Sema drew parallels between Jerusalem and the Zunheboto, claiming that Jerusalem is the centre of the world and Zunheboto is the centre of Nagaland.

He urged the citizens of Zunheboto to give their all and to focus on quality education, health infrastructure, and economic growth, citing how the neighbouring districts are growing in many ways.

Earlier, I Nikheto Jimomi, president of Sumi Hoho, while delivering the keynote address, said that aligning with Ahuna, a post-harvest celebration, the Sumi Hoho has declared the day as Sumi Prayer Day.

He further urged the Sumis to honour auspicious celebrations like these by wearing cultural attire.
