Advisor Zhaleo Rio visits Niuland fire victims

DIMAPUR — Zhaleo Rio, Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, on Monday visited the victims and the site at Old Showuba Village in Niuland district, where a market area was destroyed by fire on the afternoon of November 10 (Sunday).

Though no human casualties were reported, the blaze damaged the stalls and shops.

According to a press release, the advisor was accompanied by Sara S Jamir, Deputy Commissioner of Niuland; Tiayanger Jamir, sub-divisional officer of Niuland and Kuhuboto; the Village Council of Old Showuba; and the GBs of the village.

As immediate relief to the fire victims, the DC provided monetary assistance of INR 5,000 each through the Emergency Relief Fund.

The advisor commended the district administration of Niuland, Fire and Emergency Services, Power department, and the local residents of Old Showuba for their swift response to the disaster, which helped prevent the fire from spreading further.

He requested that the village council and the district administration submit a detailed report, along with all necessary documentation, to the government for further assistance to the fire victims.
