Advisor Zhaleo inaugurates bamboo rural haat and marketing shed
DIMAPUR — The advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, on Friday inaugurated the bamboo rural haat in Piphema ‘A’ under Medziphema sub-division in Chümoukedima district.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Zhaleo congratulated the team from Nagaland Bamboo Mission and Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) for successfully setting up the Bamboo Rural Haat for the welfare of people. He also appreciated the cooperation received from the village council.
The advisor also emphasised on the importance of Piphema as it is located along the National Highway-29 and an attraction for tourists visiting Nagaland. He requested the villagers to maintain cleanliness and take care of the infrastructure. He further encouraged the farmers to continue to grow and sell the local/ organic vegetables as it would not only help increase income but also provide employment opportunities to the people.
The additional secretary and state mission director of Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, S Tainu, also gave a brief note on the bamboo rural haat.
Dr. Tolto Metha, NBDA team member, extended his appreciation to the village council for providing land for constructing the bamboo rural haat and for their cooperation.
The bamboo rural haat was funded by the Nagaland Bamboo Mission and constructed by Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency.
In another programme, Zhaleo inaugurated the farmers marketing shed in Tsiepama village under Medziphema sub-division in Chümoukedima district on Friday.
The advisor stated that the market shed has been a need for Tsiepama village and expressed his contentment at the successful completion of shed. He added that the market shed is a good platform for the villagers to sell their local /organic products.
He further encouraged the villagers to produce more local agricultural products to boost local economy.
A short speech was delivered by Zhato Kimho, CPO president, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Seyievizo Visezuo, chairman of Tsiepama village council.
The marketing shed was constructed and funded by Rural Development department.
