Advisor Khamo urges students to uphold honesty, hard work

KOHIMA — Advisor of Central Administrative Works Department (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Saturday called upon the students to uphold the culture of honesty, hard work and a prayerful life to achieve success and also contribute meaningfully to their communities.

He stated this during the 29th general session-cum-freshers’ day of Phüsachodümi Students’ Union Kohima (PSUK) as the guest speaker held at the auditorium of Baptist High, Kohima.

Commending the students for the feat they have achieved in various fields, he encouraged them to strive harder to be successful in life and be an asset to the village, the church and the society.

While reminding that there is much information that could mislead and misguide, he advised the students to be rational and not be swayed by what is available on social media alone.

Also pointing out the competitive nature in the present era, he advised them to be focused and specialised in their profession.

As Naga society has been greatly influenced by other cultures in terms of food and dress, the advisor observed that they have failed to inculcate the culture of hard working.

Emphasising that the New Educational Policy (NEP) is practical-based learning, he said learning alone would render them useless unless they put into work and action.

Highlighting the scarcity of job opportunity in government sector, the advisor stressed the need to change mindset and shift towards entrepreneurial pursuits. In this regard, he advised the students to work out strategy and set visions for their life and work accordingly.

Also noting that Nagas lack patience which is itself dangerous, he advised the students to live a prayerful life for guidance and live honestly. He also urged the students to uphold their Christian identity.

Ciefüzü Cürhah, an elderly public leader, exhorted the students to respect the elders, leaders and fellow humans. He also highlighted the importance of knowing one’s own mother tongue.

He reminded that politics is not about enmity, but a choice to elect a leader to represent them. In this regard, he appealed to the villagers and younger generation to avoid groupism based on party line.

Bodüve Yhobüh, who recently cleared Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) as Secretariat Assistant (SA), told the students to set goals, maintain consistency and sacrifice to achieve their aspirations.

In his presidential address, Zünietso Khamo congratulated the successful students and called upon to look beyond government jobs. He also encouraged the students to be more determined and work on their plans with clear visions and explore other opportunities that are available.

Veluvoyi Khamo, in his secretary report, highlighted the activities undertaken by union.

On the occasion, PSUK also felicitated its members who have successfully completed Ph.D and cleared competitive examinations.

Meanwhile, PSUK has announced the new team of office bearers for tenure 2024-24 led by Veluvoyi Khamo as president, Vezhorayi Kotso as vice-president, Zhokhohu Chuzho as general secretary, Beduve Ruho as assistant general secretary among others.
