Dimapur, Jan. 26 (EMN): Aboi District Demand Committee on Wednesday stated that it would continue to impose indefinite bandh to support the cause of Aboi HQ demand.
ADDC said that the bandh would continue at Anjangyang SDO (C) HQ, Longchang EAC HQ, Chen SDO (C) HQ and Aboi ADC HQ.
Meanwhile, Chen Area Students’ Union (CASU) organised a public rally as part of the agitation for Aboi district demand on January 25.
The rally was organised under the banner of Aboi District Demand Committee (ADDC) at local ground, Chingkhao Chingnyu Village under Chen SDO (C) HQ, a statement from ADDC on Wednesday informed.
President of CASU Mana Konyak said that the Chen area would continue the indefinite bandh in the area till the Government of Nagaland fulfills their demand.
ADDC further clarified that the demand for Aboi district HQ was not for ‘division of tribe’ but for the uplift of people living on the international border areas of Myanmar.
It also reminded that the Konyak Union and the ADDC had made a pledge on Sep. 2, 2016 to “settle under one umbrella of Konyak Union, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (women org.), Konyak Students’ Union (KSU), Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB, Church Association), Konyak Literature Board. Hence, there is no question of division or differences of tribal line as stated by the Government on January 23, 2022, and therefore, the Government should immediately declare Aboi District HQ as our Konyak Union (apex body) has no Objection towards the creation of new district in the Konyak Soil, dated September 2, 2016,” read the statement.
ADDC said that the Aboi public were ‘shocked and saddened’ by the response of the Government towards ‘the hue and cry of our people.’
“ADDC is more determined and positive to fight for our rights as the notion of tribe wise district is illogical and shall continue to strive until the Government of Nagaland declares Aboi as the District HQ in the interest of Konyak Community and Nagas in general,” it added.
