Dimapur, April 23 (EMN): The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) has lauded the recent ‘reduction’ of a “tax” by the NSCN (IM). The ACAUT issued a press release to the media on Sunday. The organisation also stated that the scrapping of the ‘syndicate’ system should be the beginning of ‘much needed change.’
“In any nation building the voice of the people reigns supreme and it’s only right that the NSCN (IM) heeds this voice,” the press release stated.
“The scrapping of the ‘Syndicate’ system should be the beginning of much needed change leading to complete rethink of the whole taxation system prevalent in the state culminating in the much desired One Government One Tax,” the organisation observed. The ACAUT appreciated the “sensitivity and the concern shown” by the NSCN (IM) “toward the woes of the general public.”
The ACAUT has appealed to all the ‘Naga political groups’ to work toward this dream of the Naga people. It is without exaggeration that the Naga public are undergoing untold misery with the rampant multiple taxation, directly or indirectly, the press release stated. ‘…therefore the decision of the collective leadership of the NSCN (IM) to make changes in the taxation pattern in view of the plight of the common people is a matured and a responsible one and a step in the right direction.’
