Dimapur, June 5 : The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland today filed an FIR against the town Commander of Mokokchung Town, NSCN-IM for demanding 24 per cent of staff salary deduction from the office of CMO, Mokokchung, and thereafter issuing individual demand letters to all the 70 primary health centres and sub-centres under CMO, Mokokchung.

The ACAUT in an FIR lodged with the Officer-In-Charge, Mokokchung police station said, “Finding the collective decision of the 900 odd staff under CMO Mokokchung difficult to penetrate, the so called town commander has now resorted to issuing individual demand letters to all the 70 primary health centres and sub-centres under CMO, Mokokchung district, thereby putting the employees under untold harassment and pressure.”
Convenor of the Public Grievances Cell, ACAUT, Hetoi Chishi impressed upon the OC that both demand and payment of 24 per cent of salary of government employees to the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) was illegal and that the matter be treated without fear or favour.

The ACAUT Nagaland reiterated its demands that the matter be thoroughly probed and the culprit nabbed.

Meanwhile, the ACAUT appealed to the HoDs/DDOs at the directorate office and in the districts to refrain from deducting the salaries of their employees to prevent the unpleasant situation of FIRs being registered against them.

“For starters, the ACAUT Nagaland has already filed a FIR complaint in the Zunheboto police station against a certain HoD of the district for which the Zunheboto police is investigating the case. However, the ACAUT Nagaland would like to make it clear that it takes no pleasure in filing FIRs against government officials and therefore a time period of 1 week is being given to all the HoDs/DDOs to return the entire amount deducted under 24% tax demand to their respective employees failing which FIRs would be registered irrespective of the reputation of the concerned officials.”
