ABAM contributes INR 36.56 lakh towards Foothill Road construction
Dimapur, June 28 (EMN): The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) has come forward to help construct the Foothill Road by contributing more than INR 36 lakh towards the project. It is a one-time contribution from all the churches under ABAM as a token of concern and gratitude towards the project.
ABAM Executive Secretary, Mar Atsongchanger handed over a cheque of INR 36,56,282 to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio during a meeting at the CM’s residential office along with the Foot Hill Foothill Road Construction Committee on June 27, informed an update from DIPR.
While thanking and appreciating the government for taking up the Foothill Road Construction Project from Kilma, Peren to Tizit, Mon, which is an important life-line for Nagas and all neighbouring states, Atsongchanger said during the meeting that ABAM supports the ongoing road construction and requested the CM to personally supervise the project to make sure that the work completes within the stipulated time and set a legacy for the generations to come.
Rio thanked ABAM for its keen interest in the development of the Foothill Road and the contribution towards the project. He also appreciated the people for contributing their land for development without compensation.
The CM said that the ongoing Foothill Road was to be named ‘Express Way’ but could not do so due to the “incompletion of DPR.” He added said that he had taken up the project as one of the priorities and had discussed the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government. He assured that he would do all the needful.
