Shitilong SA, Mongsenbai Youngsterz SC and Hills XI FC enter quarterfinals

Mokokchung, October 13: Shitilong Sporting Association thrashed Tepenjem Rogo Mokokchung 3-0 at the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2016 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Thursday.
Despite tough display from Tepenjem Rogo, Shitilong proved too strong as Jongpongnungsang scored three goals in the 26th, the 65th and the 85th minute respectively to put the team in the quarterfinals. Shitilong SA was last year’s runner-up, and also considered one of the favourite teams to lift the trophy this year. The first match was played between Hills XI FC and Socianian FC. In the first half, Hills XI FC scored the first goal. But Socianian fought back and scored the equaliser in injury time (90th minute) to level the score. The match eventually went to the tie-breaker. At the end, Socianian FC went on to win the tie-breaker 5-4.
The fifth pre-quarter match was played between Elation SA and Mongsenbai Youngsterz SC witnessed a goalless draw. During the penalty shootout, Mongsenbai Youngsterz SC outgunned Elation 8-7.
