HM urges police to curb anti-social activities

KEZOCHA, OCTOBER 13: Home Minister, Y Patton, on Thursday inaugurated a new police station at Kezocha, about 25 km away from Kohima. The newly inaugurated police station, under SDPO South of Kohima district, will administer the jurisdiction of nine villages and one town. It is located between Kidima village and Kezo Basa, adjacent to Kezocha EAC Circle office.
Among the villages, six come under Southern Angami area including Kidima, Kezoma, Kezo Basa, Kezocha, Mitelephe and Sakhabama, while Kezo Town will also be administered by this new police station. Three villages under Northern Angami area including Dihoma, Kijümetouma and Kijümetou Basa also comes under the Kezocha Police Station, it was informed.
Speaking at the inauguration programme, the Home Minister said the new police station will be made functional with immediate effect with required man-power. He informed that the State government had given the approval for establishment of the police station in 2012, but said it could not be made functional for quite some time.
“The establishment of this police station at Kezocha is very important as it is strategically located at the South-East region of Kohima district touching inter-district boundaries of Kohima and Phek.Stating that the police station also covers inter-state boundaries of Nagaland and Manipur, the Home minister stated that the said station will have a greater role to play in curbing many anti-social activities across the border. He also expressed hope that law and order problems in this region will be drastically contained and that a new dawn of peaceful atmosphere will be realised by the people.
The Home minister urged the officer-in-charge of the police station and his team to be vigilant enough in protecting and upholding the security of the people around, adding that the establishment of the station should be a boon for the people and not a bane.
He went on to state that the present day government under the able leadership of the Chief Minister, TR Zeliang, and NPF President, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, is ever willing to work for the development and welfare of the State.
To this, he maintained that “it is the responsibility of the people to cooperate with the government and come forward with constructive suggestions and criticisms on matters concerning the welfare of the people.
The Home minster further urged upon the people of Kezocha to fully cooperate with the officials of the police station and the administration so that they will be able to work diligently for the welfare of the Naga people at large.
DGP Nagaland, LL Doungel, also sought continuous cooperation from the public to enable the police station to serve what is expected by the public.
Local MLA Kropol Vitsu, president of Southern Angami Public Organisatio, Dr. Neiketou Kiso and president of Northern Angami Public Organisation, Vilie-o Rutsa also spoke on the occasion. All of them thanked the government for what they termed as a long felt need of the people of Kezocha and neighbouring villages.
A short speech, on behalf of the Kezocha villages, was delivered by Zekrol Soleho, while SP Kohima also addressed the gathering.
The newly inaugurated police station was dedicated to the Lord by Tepuwhekho Thokhwe, pastor of Kidima Baptist Church. The programme was chaired by Additional SP Kohima.
MLA of Northern Angami-2 constituency Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu also attended the programme among others.
