CNA takes charity to measles victims in Myanmar

Dimapur, August 17: The Myanmar-based Naga organization, the Council of Naga Affairs (CNA), met with people affected by a recent outbreak of measles in the Naga areas of Myanmar during the week.
The organization offered updates on Wednesday informing about the charity event for the affected. According to the organization, the casualties according to official sources stands at forty-two but the locals claim that it is more than sixty.
The disease is “in the process of control, not yet completely controlled,” the note stated.
On August 14, the CNA met Henry Van Thio, the Vice President of the Union of the Republic of Myanmar and sought help for the outbreak victims, the press release stated. On the 15th, seven tons of medicines and nutrition packs were sent to Homalin from where the relief materials would be carried to the affected areas. During a meeting with the vice president, the CNA pointed to the basic necessities of the region. The region needs transportation facilities, education, healthcare, education, communication and rural development programs.
“The vice president assured CNA to put the agendas in the emergency cabinet meeting. In addition, he assured that he would focus on Chin State and eastern Nagaland, Myanmar during his term for development,” the CNA’s press release stated.
“CNA and NLCC would also like to make mention of our sincere request to all the concerned authorities and CSOs to maintain accountability and transparency in terms receiving of donations and, expenditures meant for the innocent victims.”
