EASTERN MIRROR: What drew you to the showbiz industry?
Dovine Venuh: Ever since I was young, I found myself walking stages and ramps at school functions, college, and other gatherings. Then, it was mere participation but when I look back now I realize they were the baby steps that took me thus far.
EASTERN MIRROR: Tell us about your career in modeling. What was the biggest opportunity in your career?
Dovine Venuh: Into my early career I was fortunate to have had the encouragement from established names in the industry like Sir Rosou and Modovina. Their support was a silver platter for my foray into modeling. My first biggest opportunity was contesting in Miss Phek 2012, and then I went on to finish up as first runner up in Miss Nagaland the same year.
I am greatly privileged to have worked with many talented designers and models and some of prominent organizations like EGON and BASN. I was and I still am genuinely honored when I was called to judge during the annual Zoomax festival and choreograph Miss Phek too in 2014.
EASTERN MIRROR: How serious are you with your current profession?
Dovine Venuh: The profession is mostly opportunity based and highly seasonal, so there are a lot of uncertainties. Nevertheless, I believe doing what you love to do is just as much worth doing.
EASTERN MIRROR: How do you feel on the runway?
Dovine Venuh: Every single time I get on the ramp it is a whole new different experience and that is the best part of being in active fashion.
EASTERN MIRROR: What do you find the most challenging part about working in the fashion industry?
Dovine Venuh: Speaking in the context of Nagaland, although the industry has gained a household name, mostly being private sector and individualized, there is a lot of constraints and funding is always a matter of concern; sometimes we are not paid enough or not paid at all. I like to believe in the near future we will have more supporters and sponsors: then, we can really explore the vast possibilities and potential the industry has to offer.
EASTERN MIRROR: What do you love about modeling? What motivates you?
Dovine Venuh: The most interesting part about being a model is knowing you bring someone’s ideas and dreams to life. Indulging in a project that they are much passionate about gives us a whole new rejuvenated feeling. Also the best part is meeting new people and making new friends.
EASTERN MIRROR: One fashion rule it’s time to break?
Dovine Venuh: There are a lot of trends and rules that comes and goes. While we may agree with some trends, others we don’t. There is one thing we can all agree on-personal style. Let the rules be, make your own.
