Nagaland CS appeals to participate in social work

DIMAPUR — In view of the upcoming festive season, Nagaland Chief Secretary, Dr. J Alam, has issued a circular to conduct a mass social work in Kohima and other places on November 22.

The event aims to foster a sense of unity and responsibility among all citizens towards a cleaner and healthier Nagaland, a DIPR report stated on Thursday.

The chief secretary has appealed to ensure that each one contributes to a clean and welcoming environment. He stated that it is crucial for all the surrounding areas and neighborhood including roads, government offices and properties are well-maintained and clean.

He added that a clean and healthy workspace not only benefits employees but also sets a positive example for the general public.

In order to make the mass social work a success, he has asked all head of departments and officers of various departments to lead by example and actively participate in the social work. He also appealed to all HoD and officers including head of offices in the districts to personally lead the social work in their assigned areas by mobilising all the staff under their respective offices for active participation.

Apart from the mass social work in the assigned area/locality, he has sought some departmental staff for cleaning and beautification of the directorate and other offices including peripheral surrounding area.

The notification stated that cleanliness of common areas such as toilets, parking lots, pathways and areas surrounding office complexes should be prioritised attention be paid to cleanliness of the areas adjacent to roads.

All the head of offices of all the districts and sub-divisions across the state are asked to actively participate in the mass social work.

DCs inform on social work

The deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, has informed that a mass social work would be conducted on November 22 from 6 am in preparation for the festive season.

The initiative would involve government employees, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC), NGOs and the public across all wards, villages and colonies.

The DC has directed the shopkeepers to close their shops from 6 am till 12 noon.

He has requested the departments to contribute vehicles and manage their assigned areas, while ward councilors would supervise local efforts.

In another statement, the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, informed that the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA), Kohima unit, would participate in the mass social work from 6 am onwards at the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) and all designated taxi stands.

He added that the Lhisemia Youth Organisation (LYO) would assist in the mass social work at Pezielietsie (Tinpatti) to Phezoucha and Billy Graham Road.
