EDTC mandates authorisation for events, carnivals
DIMAPUR — The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has informed that, in accordance with town regulations, any event or carnival planned within its jurisdiction must receive prior authorisation from the EDTC office. The council stated that individuals or groups found violating this order will be penalised and has requested the public to comply with the directive.
Tseminyu DPDB meeting held
DIMAPUR — The monthly Tseminyu District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held at the DC conference hall in Tseminyu on Monday, chaired by DC and vice chairman DPDB, Rohit Singh. During the meeting, the DC reported that all follow-up actions from the previous meeting’s agendas had been completed. According to an update, the board recommended the registration of the ‘City Refuge Children Home’ society and the recognition of Tsongin village, forwarding these proposals to the concerned department for approval. Additionally, the Fishery department gave a presentation on the implementation of various activities and achievements.
Kawato village, 5 schools declared ‘tobacco-free’ in Zunheboto
DIMAPUR — The district-level coordination committee meeting under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) was held at the DC conference hall, Zunheboto, on Monday. During the meeting, Kawoto village, along with five schools, namely, GPS Project West, GPS Shotomi village, GPS Aghunato, GPS Khuwaboto and Sacred Heart School, Zunheboto, were declared tobacco-free and awarded with citations, a DIPR report stated. In his address, DC Rahul Bhanudas Mali expressed deep concern over the excessive usage and availability of tobacco products in the district, posing a grave threat to the younger generations. He commended Kawoto village and the schools for their achievement and appealed to the concerned stakeholders to continue their noble efforts.
Consultative meeting on child protection held in Noklak
DIMAPUR — The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Noklak, organised a consultative meeting with key stakeholders on child protection under the Mission Vatsalya initiative of the Department of Social Welfare at DC conference hall on Monday. According to a DIPR report, the programme aimed to facilitate dialogue among stakeholders, review existing child protection mechanisms and develop collaborative strategies to address challenges in safeguarding children’s rights within the district. Kito Ayemi, DCPO, Noklak, delivered a presentation on Mission Vatsalya programmes and services, while DC Noklak, Arikumba, delivered the keynote address. Stakeholders from departments including Police, Medical, Education, Labour, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and Child Care Institution (CCI) participated in the discussion hour.
Talent Hunt 2.0 winners awarded
DIMAPUR — EDUCEN, an NGO, organised a cultural event and prize distribution ceremony for ‘Talent Hunt 2.0,’ an online competition featuring art, song, dance, instruments, and more, on November 17 at the Pranab Jubilee Auditorium in Dimapur. The event was attended by Arvind Damani, state general secretary of BJYM, as the chief guest, and Swami Chinmayananda Maharaj of Bharat Sevashram Sangha as the guest of honour. The programme also saw the presence of several prominent personalities, with an audience of over 400 attendees.
