DIMAPUR — The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Modern College, Piphema, organised a one-day faculty development programme on ‘Step-by-step guide on writing a research paper” on November 15 with Dr. Daili Kholia, professor of Education and convenor of Research and Development Cell of the college, as the resource person.
An update from the college started the resource person guided the participants on how to write a research paper. She also raised important questions such as ‘why are we “re” searching a topic, what is the significance of working on a research and how do we go about it.’
She explained that research means searching for knowledge and filling gaps between what is and what ought to be. She stated that a researcher always look for possible problems to solve, problems that make him/her ask the question “why?” She added that the “why” is a gap that calls for future investigation.
Dr. Kholia further explained about literature review and review research paper and showed the basic skeleton of a review research paper. According to her, review research paper is important because it helps identify problems.
The programme was moderated by Pulovili Lohe, head of Education department, while the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Vitsou Yano, college principal, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vini Achumi, IQAC coordinator.
