IEC campaign on DA-JGUA launched across Nagaland
Government officials and residents of Niuland district during the launch of IEC campaign on DA-JGUA on November 15.

DIMAPUR — The Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign on Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) was launched in several districts across Nagaland on November 15.

The campaign was launched to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of a tribal freedom fighter, Bhagwan Birsa Munda, with an aim to elevate the socio-economic conditions of the tribal villages in the region. It also aimed at creating awareness and providing essential government services to the eligible citizens of the village.

The launched programme at Phesama under Jakhama block of Kohima district was held at the village council hall.

Key services offered during the programme included Aadhaar registration, Ayushman Bharat/ Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

IEC materials were also distributed free of cost to facilitate better understanding of those welfare schemes.

In Kiphire, the campaign was launched by the advisor of Home Guard and Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Services, Relief and Rehabilitation, S Kiusumew Yimkhiung, at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office.

In his address, the advisor described Birsa Munda as an inspirational figure who championed the rights and dignity of the tribal communities. He expressed hope that the campaign would promote development and self-sufficiency among rural and tribal communities.

Similar campaign was launched in Pungro and Seyochung sub-divisions.

In Tseminyu district, the campaign was launched in Phenwhenyu village.

The sensitisation program was attended by the officials from district administration and other line departments, town councilors and village council members.

The DC of Tseminyu, Rohit Singh, highlighted the activities of the campaign and stressed the need to disseminate the programme at the village level. He has sought support and cooperation from all the stakeholders for effective dissemination of the programme.

Besides, a special saturation camp on Aadhar, PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat) and health camp was held at DC’s office. A total of 24 persons were screened during the health camp, while 17 persons availed the Aadhar facility and12 persons availed the Ayushman/CMHIS card.

In Niuland, the IEC campaign was launched in four villages namely Hakhizhe, Hovishe, Hovukhu and Kuhoxu.

The event witnessed mass participation of various departments and around 300 public of the district.

During the programme, success stories of various schemes such as PM KISAN, Ayushman Bharat and NSRLM were shared by beneficiaries encouraging the public to enroll and reap the benefits of the schemes provided by the government.

Cultural presentations were displayed by the women marking the rich heritage of traditional practices which are well preserved in the district.
